Preston Miller of Orange County, California, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. His death has left family members, former teammates, coaches, and friends mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his competitive spirit, leadership, and dedication both on and off the baseball field.
Born in Santa Clarita, California, Preston was the beloved son of Adrienne and Mark Miller and a caring younger brother to Mikaela. He grew up in San Clemente, where he developed a passion for baseball at an early age — a passion that would shape much of his academic and athletic journey.
A Standout Athlete and Teammate
Preston graduated from JSerra Catholic High School in 2018, where he served as captain of the baseball team during his senior year. During his time there, he helped lead the program to back-to-back Trinity League Championships (2015–2016), a Boras Classic South Championship in 2018, and four CIF playoff appearances.
His talent earned him All-Trinity League honors in 2017, as well as recognition as a Perfect Game Preseason All-American from 2016 to 2018 and Perfect Game Underclass All-American honors. He also competed in the 2016 International Power Showcase at Marlins Park, representing the state of California and the Shea Therapeutic Riding Center.
Preston continued his baseball career at the collegiate level, appearing in 15 games as a freshman in 2019 and five games as a sophomore in 2020. Primarily serving as a designated hitter early in his career, he recorded seven RBIs during his freshman season and went 1-for-1 with an RBI in his first collegiate appearance. As a sophomore, he appeared in five games and made two starts.
Known for his athletic build and strong presence at the plate, Preston wore jersey number 8 and competed with intensity, always putting his team first.
Character Beyond the Field
While baseball was a defining part of his life, Preston’s character extended far beyond athletics. He volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of San Clemente summer baseball camps, giving back to younger athletes who looked up to him. He also supported fundraising efforts for the Shea Therapeutic Riding Center, reflecting a compassionate spirit and commitment to service.
Academically, he was selected to the Dean’s Honor Roll in 2015 and had planned to major in Communication Studies. Friends describe him as driven, loyal, and grounded — someone who enjoyed working out, watching movies, and spending meaningful time with family and close friends.
